A moraine is the ridge of rock a glacier leaves along its edge, and it is usually the sheltered side of wherever you have parked.
The Moraine 4 folds out over the passenger side of the vehicle and nearly doubles its floor the moment the ladder comes down, which is how four people fit into something that travels as a slim bundle on the roof. Under the overhang there is room for an annex, and that space tends to fill with boots, a chair and a dog by the second evening.
It is the lightest tent in the range at 115 lb, which keeps it inside the roof load of cars that would have to say no to a hard shell. The canvas is 280 g poly-cotton with taped seams, the mattress is 2.5 inches, and the travel cover zips over everything for the drive.
Setup runs five to fifteen minutes once you know it. That is the trade for the floor space and the price.
